God is in the Details: Why the Unseen Makes You “30% Cooler”
There is a saying, “God is in the details.” But in our busy lives, how often do we truly pay attention to the parts that no one else sees?
Whether it’s the fancy lining inside a suit jacket or the hidden foundation of a building, focusing on the unseen might seem inefficient. However, this dedication to the “invisible details” is often the key to transforming both physical performance and the quality of daily life.
Based on our latest podcast episode, here is why details matter in both training and cleaning, and why they are worth your time.
1. The Wall Between 70% and 90%: The “Blueprint” of Movement
In training, we always compare a client’s movement against an “ideal blueprint” in our heads.
Take a simple leg lift while lying on your back. Is it enough just to get the leg up (a passing grade of 70%)? Or do we notice that the lower back is arching to compensate for weak muscles? This is called a “compensation movement”.
Moving big muscles dynamically is relatively easy. But to go from a “good” movement to a “perfect” one (90-95%), you must focus on the tiny details—how the ankles rotate, how the wrists align, or how the small joints interact.
Refining these details takes a lot of time and effort for what looks like a small change. However, it is only by mastering these subtle, boring details that a body achieves true lightness and high-level control.
2. The Magic of a “Damp Cloth”: Lessons from Cleaning
I recently started living with a dog, which means dealing with a lot of shedding. Vacuuming gets the visible hair and dust. But I realized that just vacuuming wasn’t enough.
I decided to go deeper—using small nozzles for the corners and finishing with a “wet wipe” (mopping/polishing). The result was surprising. The floor didn’t just look clean; it seemed to sparkle, and the entire atmosphere of the room changed.
You can live just by vacuuming the visible mess. But taking the extra time to “polish the unseen” creates a level of satisfaction that changes how you feel in your own space.
3. “Self-Satisfaction” Makes You Cool
Caring about details that no one else notices might be pure self-satisfaction. But I believe that people who pay attention to the unseen, who host beauty in the details, appear “30% cooler” than those who don’t.
We don’t have to be perfect. But by polishing the hidden parts of our movements and our lives, we can elevate ourselves to a higher level. Whether it’s your workout form or your living room floor, try focusing on the details today. You might find that it makes everything shine a little brighter.
